CLS Holdings said on Friday that John Whiteley will step down as chief financial officer at the end of next March.

Chief executive Fredrik Widlund said: "We wish John well in his retirement and thank him for his significant contribution to the company during his time at CLS. As CFO he has been instrumental in raising the company's profile and in building a well-financed, strong platform for the future.

"I am pleased that he will continue to play an active role over the coming months to ensure an orderly handover to his successor."

Whiteley, who was made CFO back in November 2009, said: "I am pleased to be able to step down with the group's finances in such fine shape, providing the platform for future growth. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve the company for almost ten years, and to see the share price more than quadruple in that time and I wish the company and my colleagues every success in the years to come."

At 0810 BST, the shares were down 1.6% to 220p.
