Cobham appoints Qinetiq's David Mellors as CFO

Aerospace and defence group Cobham announced the appointment of David Mellors as chief financial officer.

Mellors, who is currently CFO at FTSE 250 science and engineering company Qinetiq, will take up the role no later than 1 January 2017.

Simon Nicholls, whose resignation was announced in January, will leave the business at an appropriate point later in the year.

Cobham said that before joining Qinetiq eight years ago, Mellors was deputy CFO of Logica and prior to that, he was CFO of Logica’s international division.

His earlier experience includes various roles with CMG, Rio Tinto and Price Waterhouse. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and also holds a degree in Physics from Oxford University.

Chief executive officer Robert Murphy said: “We welcome David joining us as Cobham's CFO. He has a successful track record of financial leadership in international defence, aerospace and broader commercial markets. His experience will enable him to play a key leadership role in delivering the group's strategy."
