FTSE 250 aerospace and defence group Cobham has been awarded a contract by Airbus worth several hundred million US dollars over the period.

The contract is to supply its new digital RAIMS, Radio and Audio Integrated Management System, for the A320neo aircraft family.

Cobham's said RAIMS, already fitted on the Airbus A380 and A350 XWB aircraft series, offers savings in space, weight, number of equipment required, acquisition and operation costs, while offering pilots a single point for communication control.

Eiji Kawaishi, senior vice president of Cobham Aerospace Communications, said: "This selection has been possible thanks to the high level of investment made by Cobham into advanced technologies.

“The development of world-leading technology means we are able to provide our customers with highly valuable products and services that contribute to the overall competitiveness of their platforms."

At 1452 BST, Cobham shares were down 1.2% to 136p.

On Wednesday, Cobham said it was looking to raise £506.7m in a two-for-one underwritten rights issue.
