Dalata Hotel Group to close Clyde Court Hotel, but extends lease on Ballsbridge

Dalata Hotel Group has extended its lease on the Ballsbridge Hotel to at least April 2018, but at the expense of its lease on the Clyde Court Hotel.
The Ireland-based hotel operator announced on Tuesday the lease on the Clyde Court Hotel would end on 1 January 2016, and the site will be redeveloped by Chartered Land, the owner of both hotel sites.
The company said it expects no job losses for its 100 employees as a result of the closure, and suppliers to Clyde Court would still be paid in full.
Dalata Hotel Groups chief executive Pat McCann said there is a sadness at the hotel closure but he’s delighted the Ballsbridge Hotel lease is extended.
“Our staff at the Clyde Court Hotel are truly excellent professionals and we are very keen to retain their services across our large network of hotels.
“The certainty that we will operate the Ballsbridge Hotel until at least April 2018 is very good news not least for our employees, customers and suppliers but also ensuring that there are four hundred rooms and a multitude of meetings rooms available in a market that requires additional hotel space”
McCann said the group is also in the process of raising €160m (£118.4m) in fresh equity capital to acquire more freehold hotels in Ireland, build new hotels and expand existing properties.
