Entertainment One has extended its output agreement with DreamWorks Pictures through the creation of a new partnership.

Along with some of the biggest names in the film industry including Steven Spielberg, the FTSE 250 company has joined a new film, television and digital content creation company - Amblin Partners.

The new partnership will see Entertainment One expand its film distribution network, handling the direct distribution of the partnership's films on a multi-territory output basis including the UK, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.

As part of the deal, the company will also hold a small equity stake in Amblin Partners.

The new partnership will create content under the Amblin, DreamWorks Pictures and Participant brands, while Amblin Television will also become a division of it.

Projects already in production under the partnership include The BFG, The Light Between Oceans, The Girl on the Train and A Dog's Purpose, as well as HBO movie All the Way, and American Gothic.

Entertainment One chief executive Darren Throop is delighted to launch this “unique new venture”.

"As part of eOne's stated growth strategy to double the size of the business by 2020, we continually strive to partner with producers of the highest quality content and Amblin Partners certainly represents the gold standard.

“This long term partnership builds on the successful output relationship between eOne and DreamWorks, whilst extending the relationship through additional territories, licensing and merchandising and television production and distribution."

Shares in the company were up 6.9p (4.04%) to 177.6p at 0821 GMT.
