Window and door manufacturer Eurocell said on Friday that chief executive Mark Kelly plans to retire later this year.

He will be succeeded by Darren Waters, who is currently chief operating officer of clay bricks and concrete products manufacturer Ibstock, Waters will join the board as CEO Designate in spring.

To ensure a smooth transition, Kelly will remain in his role until a handover period has been completed. He will then step down at the annual general meeting in May.

Eurocell said Waters has extensive experience and knowledge of the building products and fenestration sectors in the UK, both from his current role at Ibstock and from his previous position at Tyman, where he was the CEO of UK and Ireland from 2012 to 2020.

Chair Derek Mapp said: "As chief executive, Mark has been instrumental in Eurocell's success and development as a new plc. He has led the group through a period of very strong growth and navigated the exceptional challenge of the Covid pandemic.

"We are extremely grateful to Mark for his immense contribution to the group and his commitment to ensure a smooth transition."
