Former Diageo chief executive Paul Walsh is reportedly looking into a £2bn bid for beer brands Peroni and Grolsch.

Walsh is said to be in the early stages of working with buyout firm TPG Capital on an offer for the products, which are currently owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, Sky News reported on Monday.

It is understood they are up against other private equity firms exploring a takeover of the two global brands.

The news comes after Anheuser-Busch InBev last month agreed a $108bn takeover of SAB Miller, the brewing industry’s biggest ever merger.
