Former JP Morgan executive Richard Berliand has been appointed to the board of Man Group.

The FTSE 250 company announced the appointment on Tuesday.

Berliand has over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector, including 23 years at JP Morgan.

He has held roles at the investment bank including Global Head of Prime Services and Global Head of Cash Equities.

He also chaired JP Morgan's Market Structure practice, where he led and coordinated preparations for major structural changes after the 2008 financial crisis.

Man Group chairman Jon Aisbitt said Berliand wealth of experience and detailed understanding of the regulatory environment will enable him to make a significant contribution.

“Richard has proven himself an intelligent and capable leader during an extremely challenging period for the industry, and he will be a highly valued adviser to our executive team."

He will take up the post with immediate effect, and is expected to become chair of the Remuneration Committee after the company’s AGM.
