Galliford wins three building contracts

Housbuilding and construction group Galliford Try unveiled a trio of contract wins on Thursday worth more than £100m.

In an agreement worth £47.6m, the group has been appointed selected panel member for the North and North East Lincolnshire batch of schools under the Education Funding Agency's (EFA's) priority school-building programme.

Developer St Modwen has also contracted Galliford to build the next phase of student accommodation at Swansea University's Swansea Bay campus in a contract worth more than £20m.

It has also been selected as preferred bidder by St Andrew's Healthcare to build a new residential building for young people with mental illness, autism and learning difficulties in Northampton in a contract worth £37m. The facility will be the largest of its kind in Europe.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: "We are delighted that our building business has managed to secure such significant contracts all across the country.

"These contract wins demonstrate the strength of our offering across a variety of sectors and provide further impetus to our stated strategy to continue to grow our construction activities."

Galliford shares were up 1.3% to 1,250p at 09:20 on Thursday.
