Galliford Try secures contracts worth £65m

Construction company Galliford Try said on Tuesday that its building business has secured contracts worth £65m and a major framework place in the education sector.

The business has signed a £38m contract with Northumberland County Council to build a new education campus in Hexham for the Hadrian Learning Trust. The project will co-locate Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School on the existing high school site. It also includes the creation of new sports facilities, open to the community.

In addition, the business has signed a £27m contract with University of Birmingham to build The University of Birmingham: The Exchange at 3 Centenary Square, in the city centre.

Galliford Try has also secured a place on the University of Birmingham's Main Contractor Construction Framework in the £2.5m-£10m and £10m+ lots. The framework will run for the next 10 years, with both value bands carrying an estimated pipeline value of £700m.

Chief executive Bill Hocking said: "We continue to make good progress in our key sectors and these excellent contract wins in the higher education and schools sectors are further demonstration of the quality of our offering."

At 0825 GMT, the shares were down 1.9% at 115.24p.
