Galliford Try announced a new contract win on Wednesday, having been appointed to build the second phase of the Forbury Place development in Reading by clients M&G Real Estate and Bell Hammer.

The FTSE 250 housebuilding and construction group said the deal was worth £40m. It was a follow-on from the successful first phase of Forbury Place, in the centre of Reading next to the town's main railway station.

The new building would create ad additional 185,000 square feet of Category A office space, over seven floors, on top of the basement carpark already constructed in the first phase.

"It is excellent news that M&G and Bell Hammer have trusted us once more to build the second phase of the prestigious Forbury Place," said Galliford Try chief executive Peter Truscott.

"The commercial sector remains a key driver for us, particularly in the south east, and we look forward to adding to our record of success with this major development," he added.
