Galliford Try has won a place as one of several companies on a £3.9bn public sector framework contract for the south of England.

The FTSE 250 housebuilding and construction group has been picked as one of six contractors who can win jobs across all three parts of the government's Southern Construction Framework, the south west, south east and London.

A further two other companies are able to bid for two regions, and yet two more selected for just one region.

The four-year agreement will see all public bodies and local and central government departments in the south of the country procuring new build and building refurbishment jobs of £1m and upwards via the framework.

Galliford has also been chosen as one of 11 contractors on a further public sector construction framework covering the north-west of England.

Having already in July last year won the ability to compete for high-value jobs on the 'High Value Lot', the company has now been chosen for the four-year, £400m Medium Value lot for projects from £2m to £9m.

Executive chairman Greg Fitzgerald commented: "We are delighted that our strategy of pursuing frameworks with public sector partners continues to bear fruit.

"Long-term collaboration is a cornerstone of our Building business and we look forward to working with all those organisations involved in these frameworks to produce high-quality public buildings that add to the fabric of the nation."
