Galliford Try wins school and hospital contract, added to YORbuild2 framework

Builder Galliford Try has won a place on a major public sector construction framework agreement in the north of England, together with contracts to build a new academy school and an NHS hospital extension in Croydon.

The 'YORbuild2' construction framework is a four-year collaboration between 91 local authorities across the East Riding of Yorkshire, Scarborough Borough, Rotherham and Leeds City councils to award building contracts.

Galliford Try has been included for projects costing at least £4m, which across the framework have a combined potential pipeline of approximately £1.9bn.

The first Croydon contract is from the Education Funding Agency for the £21.7m Harris Invictus Academy, a 1,150-pupil secondary school.

The other is with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, to build the new £21.25m accident and emergency facility for Croydon University Hospital.

Shares in Galliford Try were down 2.4% to 1,421p by lunchtime on Thursday.
