Gem Diamonds recovers 80 carat stone at Letseng mine

Shares in Gem Diamonds are up more than 3% after it recovered a high-quality 80 carat, D colour Type II diamond from the Letseng mine in Lesotho.

In early April the company confirmed recovery of a 114 carat diamond from Letseng, the highest dollar per carat kimberlite diamond mine in the world.

Chief executive Clifford Elphick said the 80 carat diamond was one of the highest quality diamonds recovered at the mine and was entirely undamaged.

At 12:54 BST, shares in Gem Diamonds were up 3.27% to 86.75p each.
