Globaltrans Investment names Valery Shpakov as CEO

Globaltrans Investment has appointed Valery Shpakov as chief executive officer with immediate effect.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, the Russia and Baltic region focused rail freight transportation group said Shpakov who had been in the CEO's chair on an interim basis since November 2015 had been made permanent.

He has been the CEO of New Forwarding Company, the primary gondola car operating subsidiary of Globaltrans, since 2007, having joined the business in 2003. Shpakov has more than 30 years' experience in the rail industry and has held managerial positions at various companies in the transport sector.

Michael Zampelas, chairman of Globaltrans said, “The board is delighted to confirm Valery Shpakov in the role of CEO. Not only does Valery have extensive sector experience and a track record of strong leadership within Globaltrans, he has further proven his suitability for the role over the past five months. We are very pleased he has agreed to take on the CEO role on a permanent basis."
