Go-Ahead extends London Midland franchise
FTSE 250 transport operator Go-Ahead Group has announced an eight-week extension to the current London Midland franchise to 10 December under the existing terms.
In addition, the company said a further eight-week extension on the same terms may be granted if the Department for Transport chooses to exercise this option by 18 August.
London Midland managing director Patrick Verwer said: "This extension means we can continue to build on the successes that have made this an international award winning franchise in recent years. Our focus will remain on delivering the best possible service to our passengers each and every day, and maintain strong levels of customer satisfaction."
Govia, Go-Ahead's joint venture with Keolis, has operated the franchise as London Midland since 2007.
At 1010 BST, the shares were up 1.5% to 1,761p.
