Go-Ahead Group announced on Wednesday that group chief financial officer Patrick Butcher would be leaving the company, to join Capita as CFO there.

The FTSE 250 passenger transport operator said its board had begun a process to appoint a successor, with a further announcement to be made in due course.

“On behalf of the board I would like to thank Patrick for his contribution to the business,” said Go-Ahead board chairman Andrew Allner.

David Brown, group chief executive, echoed those sentiments, thanking Butcher for his support during some “challenging years” in the transport industry.

“His role in developing our international pipeline and our future of transport projects leaves the group in a stronger position to meet the changing needs of our customers and colleagues.”

Patrick Butcher said he had “really enjoyed” his time at Go-Ahead, and he believed the group was in a strong position.

“I look forward to watching the group continue to succeed as its strategy delivers sustainable growth for the benefit of all its stakeholders.”

Butcher would be staying with Go-Ahead for the “next few months”, to support the business during the search for a successor.
