Good Energy Group announced a strategic partnership between its EV charging app subsidiary Zapmap and Hive, the eco-tech subsidiary of Centrica, on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said Zapmap, in which it is the largest shareholder, and Hive would collaborate to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions for customers at home and on the road.

Starting in 2025, new Hive EV customers would receive £20 of charging credit to use Zap Pay-enabled chargers at thousands of locations across the UK.

The company said the partnership had an ambitious goal of helping over one million customers transition to electric vehicles within the next three years.

Looking ahead, Hive and Zapmap were planning to integrate their digital platforms to offer enhanced features, such as tracking both home and public EV charging in the Hive app and offering multiple payment options, including through household energy bills.

Hive’s SmartCharge product would also be part of the offering, further reducing costs by automatically charging when energy is cheapest.

“This strategic partnership reinforces the significant role that Zapmap plays in making it simple for EV drivers to charge their vehicles,” said chief executive officer Nigel Pocklington.

“EVs and related products such as home charging are a major gateway for customer adoption of renewable energy solutions that can help accelerate decentralised clean power.”

At 1332 BST, shares in Good Energy Group were up 6.17% at 280.3p.
