Car parts-to-bikes retailer Halfords said full year revenues rose 1.7%, driven by a strong final quarter where sales rose 3.2%.

The company said it still expected group full year pre-tax profits to be in the range of £78m-82m.

A strong demand for in-car dashboard cameras helped motoring sales to grow against “tough comparatives”. The division was also boosted by car cleaning products and travel equipment.

Cycling saw a second consecutive quarter of growth in sales of bikes offset by a small decline in parts, accessories and clothing

"This was another good trading performance across the group. Retail sales delivered solid growth supported by our service-led offerings and in autocentres our sales continued to grow as we invested in new and refreshed centres,” said chief executive Jill McDonald.

“We are on track to meet profit expectations for the year and I look forward to providing an update on our Moving Up A Gear plans at our preliminary results on 1 June."
