Brownfield regeneration and property investor Harworth Group has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for a major commercial redevelopment of the former Kellingley Colliery in Yorkshire.

The 151-acre site, near the M62 and other transport links, would provide up to 1.45m sq ft of manufacturing and distribution space. It was estimated that, once complete, the redeveloped site could generate several hundred new jobs.

Chief executive Owen Michaelson said the company was delighted to have secured a resolution to grant planning permission for this major redevelopment, which would bring jobs and investment to the region.

"It is further evidence of the ability of our Capital Growth team to regenerate former industrial sites into sustainable developments for the benefits of local communities and underpins our strategy to drive long term value for shareholders."

At 11:33 GMT, shares in Harworth were up 1.02% to 99p each.
