Inmarsat confirmed that its Global Xpress satellite constellation achieved global commercial service introduction in December.

The satellite communications services company said a fourth GX satellite - Inmarsat-5 F4 - is currently completing construction and testing by Boeing in California.

This satellite is now likely to be launched in the second of half the year to provide additional GX network capacity, Inmarsat said.

In addition, the company said it will be introducing a series of market-specific, high-speed connectivity services powered by Global Xpress during the course of 2016.

At 1023 GMT, Inmarsat shares were down 0.8% to 1,127.75p.
