Support services and construction group Interserve has been awarded a contract worth more than £70m by Dandara Limited to design and build a residential development in Leeds comprising 744 apartments.

The four-building development, located in the south side of the city centre, will offer one, two and three bedroom apartments and a number of studio-style options. Landscaped areas, basement car parking, access control and a dedicated area for concierge and management services will also be provided.

Chief executive Debbie White said: "This contract is an exciting addition to Interserve's growing portfolio of accommodation projects and adds to our already extensive presence in the Yorkshire region. We look forward to playing a central role in the regeneration of Leeds city centre, and creating much-needed new homes in the area."

Work onsite has already begun and the development is due to complete in June 2019.

At 0900 BST, the shares were up 1.1% to 118.25p.
