Intertek has acquired UK and Malaysia-based network security and assurance services provider, NTA Monitor, for an undisclosed sum.

The company said the deal will build its presence in the UK security assurance and certification space, one of the largest cyber security markets in the world, while strengthening and enlarging its current footprint in the global network assurance and cyber security certification market.

Established in 1996, NTA is a trusted information security partner supporting private and public sector organisations that are working towards certification and cyber security compliance. The business specialises in the provision of penetration testing, compliance certifications, training and auditing solutions, helping organisations to minimise cyber security risks across their supply chains.

NTA employs 48 people and in 2017 it generated revenues of around £3.2m.

Intertek chief executive officer André Lacroix said: "The demand for cyber security assurance services will continue to grow rapidly as the regulatory environment intensifies and organisations look to secure their networks.

"The acquisition of NTA further strengthens Intertek's leading presence and expertise in the global cyber security certification and assurance space. We welcome NTA and its experts to Intertek and look forward to capturing the opportunities ahead whilst delivering a differentiated TQA Value Proposition to customers in this critical and high growth area of security."
