Radiation and bio-detection technology specialist Kromek has entered into a distribution agreement with threat detection and security screening provider Smiths Detection, it announced on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said that under the deal, Smiths Detection would market and distribute its wearable radiation detection and identification solutions in the Middle East and certain key markets in Asia and Australasia.

That would expand its existing agreement with Smiths Detection, first announced on 7 July, for distribution in the North and South America markets.

To date, the group said it had delivered more than 1,000 detectors under the partnership.

“We are pleased to be expanding our agreement with Smiths Detection to include the distribution and marketing of our solutions to the Middle East and parts of Asia and Australasia,” said chief executive officer Arnab Basu.

“This underscores the strength of our relationship and is a great endorsement of our products.

“With security forces globally requiring increasingly sophisticated solutions to guard against the threats of nuclear terrorism and the illicit movement of materials, the demand for our high-performance nuclear security products continues to grow.”

At 1401 GMT, shares in Kromek Group were up 3.22% at 11.87p.
