Lloyd's of London has appointed Moneysupermarket and Santander’s Bruce Carnegie-Brown as chairman, subject to approval from the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority.

He will succeed John Nelson in June, who is retiring after nearly six years at the helm of the insurance market.

Carnegie Brown is currently chairman of Moneysupermarket and a vice-chairman of Santander since February 2015. He previously worked at JP Morgan for 18 years, ran investor 3i Group’s quoted private equity division from 2007 and was a senior independent director at Close Brothers.

He has over 35 years experience in the financial services industry as he was also chief executive of Marsh Europe, a Belgian insurance company, non-executive chairman of Aon, a risk management provider, and was a senior independent non-executive director at Catlin Group, an insurance firm.

Carnegie Brown will step down from his current role as a non-executive director of JLT Group, an insurance provider.
