Mitie’s facilities management arm has been awarded a contract by NHS Property Services worth in excess of £100m.

The FTSE 250 outsourcer said it had secured 25 of the 31 lots offered and the contract is for three years with the option of two one-year extensions.

The appointment follows a nine-month rationalisation process of facilities management services across the entire NHS Property Services estate, which involved consolidating over 2,300 individual contracts into five key contracts.

It was undertaken via an extensive tendering and procurement process conducted on a regional level.

Chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith said: “We are very pleased to have been awarded this landmark contract. We are looking forward to working in partnership with NHS Property Services in the years ahead to improve the efficiency of the facilities management services provided to their wide range of buildings across England."

At 1125 GMT, Mitie shares were up 0.3% to 280.30p.
