Day misses deadline for tilt at Stobart board

Retail guru Philip Day will not seek election to the board of Southend Airport owner Stobart Group, the company said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the company said it Day had failed to notify the board of his intention to run the requisite seven days before an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) scheduled for July 18.

A boardroom tussle has been taking place over the last three months with ousted chief executive Andrew Tinkler trying to unseat chairman Iain Ferguson.

Ferguson held on to his post in a narrow vote last Friday.
