Motive Television develops TabletTV app for Apple TV

Motive Television has developed a beta version of its TabletTV app for the new Apple Television platform.

Motive, which provides technology to broadcasters and pay television operators, said the app has been submitted for review by Apple prior to release.

The app allows users with TPod tuner antennas in the US to watch over-the-air networks and local channels on their main televisions via Apple TV. The channels are not otherwise viewable on the Apple TV platform.

TPod is a joint venture between Motive and Granite Broadcasting, a US owner of two local cable TV stations.

“Given the rapidly growing interest and take-up of TabletTV Plus in the US, the company anticipates that the widespread popularity of Apple TV will provide additional revenues beyond prior expectations,” said Leonard Fertig, chief executive of Motive.

Shares fell 0.57% to 0.0174p at 1259 GMT.
