NewRiver REIT announced on Monday that its chief executive David Lockhart was shortly undergoing an elective procedure that will require him taking a leave of absence.

The FTSE 250 firm’s board said that during that time, the day-to-day executive responsibilities of the company would be shared between the company’s property director Allan Lockhart and its chief financial officer Mark Davies.

“David has taken the decision to undergo an elective procedure in order to remedy an ongoing medical issue,” said non-executive chairman Paul Roy.

“In David's absence, Allan and Mark will be responsible for the day to day running of the company, supported by NewRiver's high quality and experienced management team.

“The board and everyone at NewRiver wishes David a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back in the office as soon as possible.”
