Ophir Energy says Ayame-1X well to be plugged, abandoned

Ophir Energy said the Ayame-1X Well will be plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.

The exploration well in Block 513, Cote D'Ivoire, reached total depth of 5394m True Vertical Depth Sub Sea.

"Oil shows were recorded in the target reservoirs, but significant hydrocarbons were not encountered," said Ophir.

Full analysis and interpretation of the data was ongoing, the company said.

"The well will be plugged and abandoned as a dry hole." Ophir has a 45% operated interest in Block 513.

At about 11:51 BST, shares in Ophir were flat at 90p each.
