Paysafe appoints fintech guru Thurman as chief digital officer

Paysafe has appointed fintech industry heavyweight Tim Thurman as its chief digital officer, effective from 27 March.

Thurman will join the FTSE 250 online payments company from the Australian Securities Exchange, having previously worked for Credit Suisse in Canada, chaired the Australian government’s advisory board for the New South Wales data analytics centre and held executive positions at the Toronto Stock Exchange and at IBM.

President and chief executive Joel Leonoff said: "As a proven leader in digital transformation projects at scale, Tim's technology, product and commercial expertise, make him the ideal person to take our digital payments development to the next level and cement Paysafe's pioneering technology leadership."

Thurman, who will be based in Paysafe's Montreal office, added: "I am delighted to be joining the payments group at such an exciting time and look forward to working with Joel and the Paysafe teams around the world to help drive the evolution of the online and digital payments business."

Shares in Paysafe were down 0.12% to 425p at 0803 GMT.
