Petrofac inks supplier agreement with SSE for Seagreen wind farm project
Updated : 09:30
Oil and gas industry service provider Petrofac has been tapped by SSE Renewables to design, supply and install HVAC onshore and offshore substations for the Seagreen wind farm project.
Petrofac has already started early work on the project, which will be located 27 kilometres off the coast of Angus, immediately after entering into a preferred supplier agreement with SSE.
The FTSE 250-listed firm noted that, subject to a final investment decision expected in the coming months, the agreement's full scope would include, on a lump-sum basis, the engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, offshore installation and commissioning of the offshore substation platform, including the topside, jacket and piles.
It said the onshore substation EPC scope would include all civil work and major equipment on the project.
Elie Lahoud, Petrofac's managing director of engineering and construction, said: "We have been involved in a number of similar projects in the North Sea and are delighted to have been appointed to be part of the Seagreen project, which will be Scotland's largest offshore wind farm.
"This will enable us to continue to grow our capability and experience in offshore wind and supports our diversification into renewable energy."
As of 0845 GMT, Petrofac shares had ticked up 0.78% to 385.20p.
