Premaitha Health has signed a distribution agreement with Greece-based Antisel to provide its IONA test to clinical laboratories in the country.

The AIM listed company made the announcement on Friday.

The IONA test is the first CE-marked test for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and estimates the risk of a fetus being affected by Down's syndrome and other serious genetic from a sample of maternal blood.

The distribution deal will allow clinical laboratories in Greece to offer local screening for the first time and to take advantage of the test's time to result of just three days.

Premaitha Health chief executive Dr Stephen Little said Antisel has an excellent reputation and distribution network within Greece.

"This valuable partnership will enable us to provide the IONA test to hospitals throughout the country and we look forward to working with the Antisel team to help support clinical teams in setting up their own NIPT screening service."

Premaitha shares were up 0.75p to 14.25p at 1230 BST.
