Randgold says Tongon mine output hit by industrial disputes
Randgold said industrial disputes at its Tongon gold mine in Côte d'Ivoire would hit 2018 production guidance of 290,000 ounces although it was making efforts to recover lost output.
The miner said Tongon was now back at full capacity and it had processed ore from the run-of-mine and scats stockpiles during the stoppages and upgraded parts of the plant to achieve a higher and more consistent throughput going forward.
Production at Tongon gold mine was impacted during the first quarter by a series of work stoppages which started with the employees of the mining contractor and then spread to other operations, Randgold said.
