Low-cost airline Ryanair reported a jump in passenger numbers for May.

Traffic grew 12% from May last year to 10.6m customers, while the load factor – which gauges how many seats were taken up on flights – rose to 94% from 92%.

Meanwhile, rolling annual traffic to May was up 16% to 108.5m customers.

Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: “These record monthly numbers and load factors were delivered, at lower fares, despite the ongoing disruptions being caused by ATC strikes in France, as lower fares and the continuing success of our ‘Always Getting Better’ customer experience programme continue to deliver even more great value for our customers.”
