Insurance firm Sabre said on Wednesday that Andy Pomfret would succeed Patrick Snowball as its new chairman at the beginning of September.

Pomfret, who was chief executive officer of Rathbone Brothers from 2004 to 2014, will join the group on 1 September, when Snowball will step down from Sabre's board.

Chief executive Geoff Carter said: "I'd like to thank Patrick personally for all his invaluable support and advice over the last few years. He made a huge contribution during his time as Chairman and the whole Board joins me in wishing him well for the future.

"I'm pleased that Andy is becoming the Chairman and I know everyone is looking forward to working with him in his new role."

As of 0935 BST, Sabre shares were up 0.19% at 270.50p.
