Sage Group considering sale of payments-processing arm

Software company Sage confirmed late on Monday that it is considering the sale of its payments-processing business.

"The Sage Group plc notes recent media speculation regarding a possible disposal of its Sage Pay business and confirms that it is evaluating potential strategic options for this business, including a sale," the company said.

It added that there can be no certainty the evaluation will lead to any transaction and a further announcement will be made if and when appropriate.

At 0813 BST, the shares were down 0.8% at 686.40p.
