SDL announced on Friday that Dominic Lavelle had taken temporary leave of absence to undergo treatment for a medical condition.

The London-listed firm said that in his absence, Xenia Walters would re-join SDL assuming Lavelle's responsibilities on an interim basis, reporting to chief executive Adolfo Hernandez.

Walters was previously the chief financial officer of SDL's Fredhopper, business where she reportedly played an “instrumental role” in its successful divestment, the board explained.

Prior to that, Walters held a number of other senior finance roles delivering operational efficiency and profitable growth.

She qualified as a chartered accountant (ICAEW) with PWC and holds an MBA from Henley Management College.

Walters would not join the board, but would attend all board meetings until Lavelle's return.

“On behalf of the board and everyone at SDL, I wish Dominic a speedy recovery,” Adolfo Hernandez commented.
