Alphawave IP Group said executive director Sehat Sutardja, which it described as “one of the pioneers” of the modern semiconductor industry, had died.

His role will be filled by Weili Dai, who would “devote the rest of her life to carry on her husband's remarkable legacy with her children and her great teams to continue his innovations and work”, Alphawave said on Wednesday.

“Out of respect for the family, no further details are being provided currently and media is discouraged from contacting the family during this time of grief.”

Sutardja was born in Indonesia and travelled to the US in 1980 to study electrical engineering at Iowa State University. He also received a Master of Science and Doctorate in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley where he met Dai. The air then went on to found Marvell Technology Group.
