Shire's deputy chairman David Kappler to step down

Specialty biopharmaceutical company Shire said David Kappler will step down as deputy chairman and senior independent director.

Meanwhile, non-executive director William Burns will be appointed senior independent director, with both changes taking effect after the annual general meeting on 28 April.

Chairman Susan Kilsby said Burns’ international business, board and leadership experience made him “especially well-suited” to his new role.

At 1240 GMT, Shire shares were 1.7% higher to 3,538p.
