SIG's new CEO to start next week, chairman to retire

Insulation and roofing supplier SIG has revealed that chairman Leslie Van de Walle has decided to retire and that new chief executive Meinie Oldersma will take up his position and be admitted to the board next Monday.

Interim chief executive Mel Ewell will serve as executive director for a handover period until 30 April and from the 1 May will resume his duties as a non-executive director.

Oldersma will join SIG from Brammer, a supplier of industrial maintenance products, and has over 20 years' experience in the technology distribution, industry.

He was previously chief executive and president of Ingram Micro’s China business and managing director of its Northern Europe business.

The FTSE 250 company also announced that chairman Van de Walle will retire from the board once a successor has been found and a search and selection process has begun.

A search and selection process for a new chairman will begin soon.
