Spirent expands mobile services through Danish acquisition

Communications technology firm Spirent Communications said it intends to help operators improve their customer services through the acquisition of Danish group Mobilethink.
Aarhus-headquartered Mobilethink provides mobile device management, device analytics and intelligence services.
It also owns Tweakker, a cloud-based mobile device configuration product targeted at mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).
The deals means that Spirent will be able to provide its customers' marketing and customer-support teams "with the agility to respond to suggestions and proactively improve the user experience", it said.
The company is spending $20m on Mobilethink, funded from existing cash resources.
"Hosted and cloud-enabled device intelligence solutions give operators and MVNOs the ability to significantly improve subscriber service experience," said Spirent's chief executive Eric Hutchinson.
"The acquisition of Mobilethink combined with Spirent's extensive portfolio of mobile device performance and customer experience management solutions will help drive our overall growth with additional recurring revenue potential."
Spirent expects the transactions to be earnings enhancing and cash generative in the first full year of ownership.
