Support services and construction group Interserve announced on Thursday that Steven Dance - executive director and managing director of equipment services - was to retire.

The FTSE 250 firm said that during his notice period, Dance will continue to support the group in a number of areas and will continue to report to chief executive Adrian Ringrose.

At the same time, Interserve said it has appointed Ian Hayes as managing director of the equipment services division, also reporting to Ringrose.

Hayes has been a divisional director of equipment services since 2007, and was currently leading the team’s Europe, Far East and Americas businesses.

Interserve said he had more than 25 years of experience in the industry.

“I would like to thank Steve for his significant contribution to Interserve over the last 12 years, in particular, for his leadership and development of the Equipment Services business, which he leaves in good shape,” Ringrose said.

“With a strong management team, led by Ian Hayes, to drive its future development."
