Telecomminications and internet service provider Three has outsourced its customer management services in the UK to Capita, a professional services company, in a deal worth about £70m.

The FTSE 100 company will take over responsibility for Three’s mobile and broadband customer service and sales in Glasgow starting in early 2017 for seven years.

Up to 450 employees in the Glasgow contact centre, where Capita maintained it will continue to deliver Three’s services from, will transfer to Capita following a consultation.

Gurpreet Gujral, director of Three’s contact centres, said appointing Capita for some of its customers service operations in Glasgow was the best way to give customers the best possible experience.

He said: “We will now work hard to ensure all employees affected by this change are fully supported and we will be commencing consultations with them.”

Capita’s chief executive, Andy Parker added: “This partnership is a demonstration of Capita’s continuing commitment to delivering outstanding customer management for our clients across a wide range of sectors. We will leverage our customer experience expertise, including service design, to jointly develop Three’s customer management processes and tools.”

Shares in Capita were down 0.05% to 977.50p at 1426 BST.
