Ultra Electronics said its Canada-based maritime systems business had won a contract from the Indian Ministry of Defense to supply its navy with torpedo detection system.

No financial details were revealed. Ultra said it would will deliver systems based on the Sea Sentor product in current operation around the world.

Sea Sentor is a passive acoustic towed array specifically designed to detect torpedoes and has additional in-built non-acoustic as well as acoustic intercept sensors.

“Due to the initial engineering phase and time to place sub-contracts, this order will not make a meaningful contribution to 2017 revenue,” Ultra said.

“The contract will be executed over the next three years with a greater weighting to the second half of this period as production deliveries are made.”
