Vedanta appoints new India metals chief

Vedanta Resources' subsidiary Vedanta Limited has appointed Samir Cairae to head up the company’s India metals division.

Cairae, who is an is an electrical engineer from IIT-Kanpur, has previously held various leadership positions at Lafarge and Schlumberger

The company said the appointment is part of the senior leadership team’s key initiatives to acquire global talent to take the company to new heights.

Vedanta Resources chief executive Tom Albanese said he is delighted to have Cairae on the team.

“Samir will provide operational and strategic leadership for the performance of Vedanta Limited's Aluminium, India Copper, Power, Iron Ore divisions in addition to Commercial and Asset optimization functions."
