Vodafone abandons £20m bid for naming rights of West Ham stadium

Vodafone Group will not pursue a deal for the naming rights of the London Stadium, after deciding against the £20m deal.
The telecoms group had been considering the six-year agreement for the right to name the stadium, which was used during the 2012 Olympics and is the current home of Premier League club West Ham United.
It is the latest setback in the stadium’s bid to sell the naming rights, after a joint venture from the London Legacy Development Corporation, Newham Legacy Investments and Indian company Mahindra broke down last year.
News of the collapse of the deal, which was said to be at an advanced stage, arrived as Vodafone released its quarterly results on Tuesday.
The FTSE 100 firm's revenue was down 4.4% to €47.6bn, while full-year organic service revenue grew 1.9%.
West Ham have struggled in their first season in their new home, with crowd trouble during the first part of the year as fans expressed their disagreement with the new arrangement.
