Wizz Air load factors improve as it takes on four more aircraft

Wizz Air issued its passenger statistics for June on Tuesday, reporting a 20.5% uptick in capacity over June last year to 3.245 million seats.

The FTSE 250 low-cost carrier said the number of passengers carried was up 21.8% to 3.029 million, making for a load factor improvement of one percentage point year-on-year to 93.3%.

On a rolling 12-month basis, capacity was ahead 21.8% to 33.911 million seats, with passengers up 23.2% to 31.055 million, making for a rolling 12-month load factor improvement of one percentage point as well, to 91.6%.

The central and eastern Europe-focussed airline said it continued to expand its network, operations and customer offering during June, announcing six new routes during the month - four to and from the UK, one to and from Poland and one in Lithuania.

It also took delivery of four brand new Airbus A320 family aircraft, taking the fleet to 102 aircraft.

“Wizz Air celebrated the opening of its newest base, Vienna and the start of operations of its newest station, Tallinn,” the board also highlighted.

“After the success of Wizz Air Pilot Academy in Poland and Romania Wizz Air launched its Pilot Academy Program in Bulgaria.”
