Wizz Air passenger numbers ascend further as route network expands
Wizz Air issued its passenger statistics for May on Monday, seeing another rise in both capacity and passenger numbers, with capacity ahead 17.1% at 3,086,626 when compared to the same month last year.
The FTSE 250 low-cost carrier’s total passenger numbers for the month were up 18.1% at 2,836,380, while its load factor was 0.8 percentage points higher at 91.9%.
On a rolling 12-month basis, capacity was up 22% at 33,359,776, while passenger numbers were 23.3% higher at 30,513,700.
Load factor was up one percentage point on a rolling 12-month basis to 91.5%.
The airline expanded its routes further during May, with eight new routes announced.
Seven of them were to and from Hungary, including the doubling of capacity and market position in Debrecen, and one to and from Romania.
It also took delivery of two brand new Airbus A320 family aircraft, taking the fleet to 98 aircraft.
“Wizz Air UK received [its] Air Operator's Certificate and Operating Licence and started operating on 3 May,” the board said in its statement.
