Wood Group to install Siemens turbine in North Carolina
Wood Group has secured a contract from Siemens to install a new Siemens HL-class gas turbine at a power generating station in North Carolina, it announced on Thursday.
The FTSE 100 company said the award would see it mobilise a team of around 400 people to the project site to deliver the “notable” construction project, for a period of approximately 11 months.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
“This contract is a fantastic demonstration of Wood's ability to deliver a breadth of services to meet the needs of various customers in the power and process industries,” said Wood Group’s Asset Solutions Americas chief executive officer Andrew Stewart.
“This power plant is serving the growing demand for electricity, and the construction of a new combustion turbine station is part of a plant expansion program.
“Siemens is driving the test of new, more efficient HL-class gas turbine technology at the station and we are privileged to be part of this important and strategic program to add 400 megawatts of capacity to the plant's existing 1,200 megawatts.”
